The Lord Will Appear

Description

There is a great need for modern worship songs about Jesus' second coming. Most older hymnals have a section about the second coming but hymns there usually focus on the judgment Jesus will render there. But for those who belong to Christ, this coming will be a truly joyful time. Believer, Jesus is certainly coming back for you. Let that truth settle deep in your soul and move you to worship Him with your voice and your life. When you are tempted to despair, remember 1 Peter 4:12-13: "Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation."

Lyrics

             (Show Original Wordings)
My soul, Lord, inflame with zeal from above,
Your praise to proclaim and sing of Your love;
To lift up my voice in thanksgiving sincere,
this truth to rejoice in, the Lord will appear.

How joyful this sound, while daily I find
Afflictions abound in body and mind!
It oft has afforded relief from my fear,
To find it recorded, the Lord will appear.

Chorus:
My Lord will come for me
In pow'r and majesty!
He told me to watch, for His coming is near;
And just like He promised, the Lord will appear.

My fears sometimes say I never will find
In death's awful day true peace in my mind;
But though I'm surrounded, yet, when I come there,
I can't be confounded, the Lord will appear.

My dust He will raise, and glory He'll give;
And I to His praise in heaven will live;
There He will deliver my soul from all fear,
And to me, forever, the Lord will appear.

Words by Samuel Medley (1738-1799) and David Ward. Music by David L. Ward.

I'm terminally ill and dealing with all the regular stuggles of life as well as those that my health situation brings. I'm constantly looking for ways to keep my mind on the things above -- God's things -- and the hymns help me more than anything outside of God's Word itself. While I dearly love the music of the old traditionaly hymns, I also like to look for contemporary versions of those hymns. I just found your site and what I see and hear is very encouraging so far. I'm glad it can be contemporary while still sounding worshipful. Please keep up the good work.

Thank you so much for this positve uplifting song that is full of God's truth. I was wondering if sometime in the future you could post some chords for this, as I would like to teach this to my church. God bless, and keep up the excellent job of making old truths come alive again for the younger generation.
