Hope for Sinners
Home » Original Songs » Updated HymnsDescription
All Christians doubt their salvation from time to time. Satan, our remaining sin (called simply "the flesh"), and the sinfulness of the world cause us to take our eyes off of Jesus' work on the cross and focus on our own hopelessness and despair. If our salvation did depend on our own performance how miserably we would fail! But thanks be to God that we need simply to remind ourselves along with this song that:Has not Jesus died for sin?
Did He not in resurrection
Victory o'er Satan win?
When we doubt God's salvation and despair at our own lack of holiness, let us remember the gospel, that Jesus died for sinners, including me.
Lyrics | (Show Original Wordings) |
Has not Jesus died for sin?
Did He not in resurrection
Victory o'er Satan win?
Hear Him on the cross exclaiming -
"It is finished," then He died;
See Him in His mercy saving
One there hanging by His side.
Chorus:
Hope, and peace, and joy for sinners
Through Jesus' death on Calvary
All your crimson sins forgiven -
Hope for sinners like me.
'Twas for sinners that He suffered
Agonies unspeakable;
Can you doubt you are a sinner?
Don't believe that all is well.
But, believing what is written -
"All are guilty," "dead in sin,"
Looking to the cross of Jesus
Hope will flood your soul within.
Words by Albert Midlane (1825-1909) & David L. Ward. Music by David L. Ward.

Will "Hope for Sinners" be available soon as a piano/vocal arrangement on this site?
Grace to you,
Taylor
Nice song. I'd be very happy to see a piano arrangement here soon. :)
