God's Gonna Lead Us to Glory

Description

This is a new text for the traditional spiritual "Wade in the Water". This was written in light of the refugee crises of recent history, to help God's people identify themselves as refugees and wanderers and thus hopefully sympathize with and extend compassion and help with literal refugees around the world.

This song would best be performed with a soloist singing the verses and possibly even the choruses and with a choir or the congregation singing "God's gonna lead us to glory."

Lyrics

Chorus:
We have wandered
Long as strangers but the
Lord has promised-
God's gonna lead us to glory.

Verse 1:
From the garden we have roamed,
God's gonna lead us to glory.
We are the children who have no home,
God's gonna lead us to glory.

Verse 2:
All our chains of slavery,
God's gonna lead us to glory.
Born and defeated at Calvary,
God's gonna lead us to glory.

Verse 3:
See the King as He returns,
God's gonna lead us to glory.
Death and the Devil He overturns,
God's gonna lead us to glory.
