The Lord Is Angry

Description

A hymn on the wrath of God from the series of hymns titled "The Lord Is"

Lyrics

The Lord is angry with all those who do not give Him glory
For they dishonor what He loves—His excellence and beauty.
For them He has a place
Devoid of love and grace
Where all that will remain
Is endless, conscious pain.
His wrath is just and holy.

The Lord has saved us from this doom by showing His disfavor
Toward Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, who died to be our Savior.
Unfathomable wrath
He bore on our behalf,
But resurrection proved
God's anger is removed
From all who flee to Jesus.

The Lord will never show us wrath but love and grace unceasing
For Jesus' righteousness is ours and we are called well-pleasing.
Since we are safe in Him,
We hate and fight our sin
And long for all to know
The pardon God bestows—
That all might praise His mercy.
